Sulaiman Alrajhi University held an educational awareness campaign to mark World Diabetes Day under the slogan “We learn to protect our future”, at Bilsan Park in Albukairyah Governorate, with the participation of male and female students of the University's health colleges.

The awareness corners offered to visitors covered a range of topics aimed at raising health awareness and establishing a culture of diabetes prevention through healthy eating, regular physical activity and maintaining a normal weight, in addition to a corner providing on-site medical screening to measure blood sugar levels.

The campaign is in line with the University's mission in social responsibility, and affirms that “preventing diabetes begins with awareness, and that spreading health literacy is a shared responsibility between educational and health institutions”.

The event drew a large turnout from residents of the governorate and visitors to the park, with more than 500 visitors benefiting from the corners and medical screenings, while over 200 blood sugar tests were carried out and 300 educational leaflets distributed.

World Diabetes Day falls on 14 November each year and aims to raise awareness of the seriousness of the disease and the ways to prevent it, as diabetes is one of the most prominent health challenges facing societies around the world.
